5 Parts of Successful Email Marketing

October 20th, 2014 No Comments

If you have decided to include email marketing as part of your advertising strategy, you need to know how to make it stand out enough to be read.  Don’t let your email go in the trash without being opened: create something everyone wants to read.  Here is how to design an email that gets a better return on investment.

Consider Your Audience

Target the right audience with your emails.  No matter how awesome an email is, it won’t get the results you are looking for if it doesn’t go to the right people.  Know your customer and what they want and need.  Even if your product is something of use to people of all ages, you will still change your marketing techniques to appeal to the different groups.

Create a Catchy Subject Line

The subject line is your two-second intro.  Make sure it is compelling enough to get users to click on the email.  It should peak their interest or their curiosity.  On the other hand, you don’t want to make it too mysterious or they will just hit the delete button because it looks like spam.  Your subject line should give them a clue about the topic of the email.

A Winning Offer

Make your offer irresistible.  An outstanding offer can make an average product a must-have item.  Know what will appeal to your audience and draw them in.  Once you research your customers and recognize who they are, you will know what kind of offer will attract them.

Have a Clear Call to Action

Make sure people know what they are supposed to do when they finish reading your email.  Is it a “Buy now” proposition or “Click to Join”?  These phrases make it obvious what is expected.  Also let them know it is for a limited time or until supplies run out to give a sense of urgency.

Timing

The fifth component of a successful marketing email is the right timing.  You want to send it out soon enough for a sale but not so far in advance that they forget about it.  Send a reminder email the day of the sale or on the last day of the special.

Create a well-designed, planned marketing email campaign and you will see results.
